Canadian boarder still closed so our norther neighbors won't be at Oshkosh
Tech Talk:
Carl talked about a Barron power - electrical - loss. Bad batteries and regulators. Turns out it had a bad transfer switch? Nope!!! Yet another set of regulators. At the end of the day one of the alternators has a bad coil / field winding.
Ron talked about the threshold voltages will prevent subsequent alternators from coming on. Talked about how alternators work.
Ron brought in some oil temperature and performance. 230 - 260 degrees F ideal range. Discussion followed...
Aircraft oil temp range is actually 180 - 200
Other countries change their oil filters without draining oil unlike us in the US.
Talked about the need to do a proper walk-around before take-off
Discussed compression test results, factors that impact results and performance.
